I am attempting to take a dvd I bought, eliminate all the films' audio, then add my own commentary/music. No title screens necessary-just the main feature. Could someone direct me to a how-to addressing these operations? Thanks in advance.

rip it to the hd first with dvdfab decrypter then http://www.digital-digest.com/articl...ams_page1.html
and after you demuxed/splitted video and audio files than make your own track in ac3,wav or mp2 format and reinsert it/remux it.

Rip just the main title with DVD Decrytper in IFO mode with file splitting turned off, or rip the whole disc and use DVD Shrink in Re-author mode to get just the main title.

Use VOB2MPG to extract the video and audio (perhaps using VOBMerge first to get a single large VOB).

Re-author using the video you have just extracted, and your new audio.

Note : Once you have authored a new disc you may have to shrink it to get it to fit on a single layer disc. Otherwise burn with DL.

Details on all these steps can be found in guides associated with the tools mentioned. Just look in the Tools section for links.

Thanks! I had gotten some rather vague advice on this subject, but nothing that really detailed the how-to. I'm trying to produce a video similar to the "dark side of oz". Guess I have a Thanksgiving project now.*rolls up sleeves* Thanks again.

Rip the main movie with DVD Decrypter in File Mode - in setup set file splitting to none (gives one big vob file). Use Tmpgenc Plus (trialware) File - MPEG Tools - Demultiplex and extract the m2v video stream.

Since Ulead VideoStudio v10 (trialware) makes it so easy to record/edit and arrange commentary and sound tracks with video I would use that program to do the rest of the project in. This program makes it very easy. When finished just make certain the project settings match the video clip properties and export in smart render mode (direct stream copy) without the need for reencoding.

    A doable project. Good luck.

This is an old topic, sorry, my system crashed and I have just now gotten a new pc and resumed work on this project. I have followed scorpion kings advice and have reached the step where I am trying to use ulead studio plus. I have gotten my audio files into the library, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to accept my (demultiplexed with Tmpgenc plus) video file. This file is an mpeg. Is it the same as m2v? The program just stops responding when I try to drag it into the timeline... Perhaps I am doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
