I know VCDEasy encodes several jpgs to mpg at one shot .

I have heard that TMPGENC does a better job of encoding but I have been unable to encode a bunch of jpgs at one shot with TMPGENC.

Can tmpgenc do that ; if so can you please point me in the right direction ?

I have TMPGENC Plus ver 2.5

    Thanks

  2. Do want to use the higher res available for MPG still only? Or do you want transition effects and seperate music clips? Do you know about the special SVCD and VCD slideshow mode?

    Thanks for swift reply.

Audio is not an issue. I would be happy to simply get my camera's jpgs to be encoded sitable for (S)VCD so that I could use VCDEasy to produce disks to run on my DVD player.

My wish is to improve the quality and it was that which made me consider TMPGENC -- but I dont seem to be able to encoded in batch.

Thanks for any thoughts on this .

The MPEGs that VCDEasy encodes for stills are about as high a quality as one can get for MPEG Stills. I have NEVER seen a corruption or artifact, and I have done a LOT of them. Using the default Stills encoder will cover compatibility with most players, but if you're having trouble with compatibility, you may want to try the "Alternate" (aka "Pioneer") encoder (also supplied w/ VCDEasy. There should be a choice in preferences for which one to use.

If you're unhappy with the quality as compared to original HiRez Camera JPEGs, you'll end up being unhappy any way you go. Most camera's these days output ~2k...~4k sized images and the max rez for NTSC(S)VCD stills is 704x480 (720x480 for DVD). That's just the way it is.

gkma01 - When people talk about TMPGenc being better for encoding, they mean for video NOT photos. I have no idea if you can encode photos with TMPGenc, but I don't think it would get you anything over using VCDEasy's encoder. I 100% agree with Cornucopia that VCDEasy encoded stills are about as high quailty as you can get for this format.

I uses MemorytoTV to make slideshow from digital camera's jpg. It uses TMPGenc to encode the video from jpg.
