I have noticed x264 in the ffmpegX ver. 0.0.9x has stop using multiple threads for encoding. The same issue also occurs when I use a custom compiled x264 build (tuned for G5) with pthread enabled.

Is there any connection to ffmpegX?

    I'm using a late 2005 PowerMac G5 2.3 GHz dual-core with 2 GB of RAM

  2. I also noticed that x264 is using the verbose output option. The progress bar is nice and everything, but doesn't that have a significant unfavorable effect on encoding speed?

  3. You may enable terminal window output (in the ffmpegX menu of the apple bar) if to disable the Progress bar.
