I read that this unit has a USB1 port and requires FAT32 files. Is this correct? Is there any issue playing MPEG2 files from a hard drive at high data rates with a USB1 port? It seems in the early days of capture cards, this was an issue getting the data across at high data rates. Can the USB port power a 2.5 inch hard drive?

I have used a 2.5 inch USB2 drive. and it doesn't have enough power to run it. You will need to have an external power supply. I have an external 250gb usb2 3.5 case that I use with it....

It's 1.1 not 2.0 USB, high bitrate could be a problem we are talking a port the is something like 1 fortieth the speed of the 2.0 USB.

The port is handiest for Divx/Xvid and pictures. It has played VOBs but high bitrate is not a value. IOWs 1 persons high bitrate is anothers mediaum and some elses low bitrate. It is subjective not objective.

What is the best car and how come there are others being bought. same reason.

You will always need an external power to run your usb unit. The USB power supplied from the DVD player is not enough.

  13. The only bad thing about this unit it doesn't play all video formats, and that's the reason I return. I prefer to have a non usb dvd player who will play almost all video files from this planet.
