SVCD Audio Skipping when Played in DVD Player

I've converted an XviD movie into an SVCD and burned to a CD-RW. My DVD player is SVCD-capable. When I play the SVCD in the DVD player the audio skips a lot. It's not out of synch, but it just skips. It plays fine when I play it on my PC fromo the CD-RW. Is this just a DVD player issue or what?

how did you convert to svcd? what tool(s)?

i used imtoo mpeg encoder and i burned at slowest speed to a sony cd-rw and a verbatim cd-r and it plays fine from the disks on the pc but the audio skips and beeps while skipping when i play it in my dvd player which is supposed to play svcd's.

Try a different brand of disks.

Too high bitrate? Some players can't play SVCD @ top bitrate - I used to stay below 2000 kbps to keep my player from choking.

To vague to know for sure but...
1) It could be your media.
2) It could be an issue with your DVD player, which you have not named.
3) It could be that the conversion process was flawed.
4) It could well be a bit rate problem as Mats suggested. Weird problems with SVCD often involve bit rate.

Is there a reason why you didn't try DVD2SVCD instead of this IMTOO (whatever that is) encoder?
