  1. I have a new standalone MPEG4 recorder (by Neuros) but I can't play the files on any PC I have.

G-Spot doesn't help. The files are named *.MP4.

Any advice on a good place to get an appropriate MPEG4 Codec?

  3. Got it, thanks killerhex. Mediainfo is great!

It turned out to be a QuickTime Codec.

EDIT: So is there any way to make it so Windows Media Player can play them or must I use the QuickTime player?

You need an MP4 splitter (to demultiplex the audio and video from the MP4 file) like Haali media splitter.

Then you need an h.264 decoder to decompress the video. And probably an ACC decoder to decompress the audio. Try using ffdshow. You may have to manually enable the h.264 and ACC filters.

  5. Thanks jagabo, I may play around with that.

These are videos from my onboard camera so I may be happy with just playing them with the QT Player.
