aspect ratio problem with wmv9 in mkv

i have a wmv file (WMV9 video codec) with anamorphic resolution(704x480) properly displeyed in 16/9 size in its original .wmv container. i converted it to avi file with graphedit/vdub mod. now i'm trying to mux it with others tracks to mkv container, but even setting it to 16/9 or 853x480 video displey size, it keeps to be played (tested with both media player classic and videolan) with 704x480 resolution. with Zoom player,with its default "derived(recomended)" aspect ratio setting it works fine and display the screen in correct 16/9 size. the question is: why videolan and media player classic don't play it right even if they do with every other anamorphic encoded video files? anybody knows what is this problem due to (players or file?)or how can i solve it?thanks

Probably because of MS' DMO decoder. No idea about VLC.

You could always use mplayer.
