Audio Wire Using Old copper Speaker wire

I apologize if my question is a little vague, I'm kind of a newb to home enterntainment systems.

Basically my problem is this, I have some old school speakers that connect to my stereo using those copper wires. The problem is that I don't have a stereo that has that kind of output. Is there like some kind of wire that has a copper wire on one end and an audio jack on the other?

If your system is of recent vintage, go to a hardware store and buy banana plug adapters



the receiver's terminals should be able to accept them. Look through your owner's manual first to make sure.

That, or just buy some [ RCA <--> RCA ] cables and chop of the 1 end (leaving the other alone), then strip that end to the bare wire (best to use a wire cutter/crimping tool there).

Note that RCA wire is usually very light guage, and so, should NOT be made to do long runs (~6ft. max).
