I have just purchased a sony handcam and took several movies which I downloaded onto my Pentium2.8 winxp pro computer. Can some one suggest what programs I should use to create a movie from my handycam movies and then burn it to a DVD so it can be viewed on my TV. I tried Windows Movie Maker (crashed a lot) no sound and movies only play for first 25% of each one. Muvee auto producer (trial version bundled) - no sound. tmpge xpress - no sound data file. Sonic record & nero won't work. funny thing is the movies play perfectly with Power DVD! I have HP lightscribe dual layer DVD burner and DVD Decripter and DVD shrink.

I assume it is already DVD video, since PowerDVD can play it. Use TMPGenc DVDauthor to edit/produce, and use Nero burning ROM to burn the DVD.

PowerDVD will play pretty much anything - it's not unreasonable to assume it's MPEG2 when people mention software DVD players, but can be misleading. Software players are more tolerable to out-of-spec authoring and can usually play other formats.

The video could still be DVD-VR, but TMPGenc DVD Author will still handle it (I use it when handling media recorded on my standalone).

A camcorder model number is all that is needed.
