I have a few commercial VHS tapes with Macrovision, and I recently bought a TBC-1000. I have a set-top DVD recorder which detects the Macrovision, and a Hauppauge PVR-150 for capturing, which ignores Macrovision.
I have the option of removing the Macrovision with the TBC-1000 (it works), or just recording it with the PVR-150 and leaving the Macrovison "in there".
My question is, is it better to remove Macrovision, or just ignore it? Will I get a (very minor) picture improvement by cranking it through the TBC-1000? Or could using the TBC-1000 cause unnecessary errors? Other than the Macrovision, the tape plays fine.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

When you record with PVR-150 (or any other analog->digital video capture), the MacroVision is gone. It's only present in analog video.

The TBC-1000 is a better option because it reduces picture jitter. Of course, I don't see why you can't use the TBC WITH the Hauppauge card, if you plan to do some editing.
