After I pasted the link and hit Download, this message came up "Unable to select database. Please try again in a few minutes". Is this the way?

Works fine here with many links I tested...well some days ago, maybe they have changed something lately.

Or try firefox with http://www.videodownloader.net/ extension.

Keepvid.com worked perfectly for me every time up until Youtube recently did an update.

keepvid.com seems to be down or messed up at the moment, but you can try this site, which basically works just like keepvid:

I downloaded "videodownloader-1.0-fx.xpi" but it is not openable. How can I install this .xpi file?

I think that's the Firefox extension. To just download the youtube video, like with keepvid, paste the link into the top area and hit Download, then right-click on the Download Link button that appears and select Save target as... Add .flv to the filename and select the location on your computer you want to save to. You've then got the flv file on your machine, ready for conversion with Super or whatever.

Here, try copying and pasting this youtube video link into the top area of the http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php site and follow the instuctions I've just given you:
