    I play commercially bought dvds on my pc using Windows Media Player or Nero Showtime. Sometimes, the video is too dark and I would like to adjust image settings through the software program. However, video setting (brightness, color, etc.) sliders on WMP don't work and the image setting controls on Nero Showtime are greyed out.

    How can I adjust the image settings using the software and not by adjusting brightness on my monitor?

    Tried change the graphic card video overlay settings? under the Control panel->Display->Settings->Advanced in windows.
