What do you mean ? You don't just buy special effects. They are created, either from stock footage and effects packages, or from scratch. They could be a combination of 2d and 3d, all 3d, or all 2d. They can be GCI or live, minature or full scale.

What specifically are you after ?

    What kind of sound effects?

Sorta like asking "how can I travel?" Begs the question "travel from where to where?"

Sound effects - do a yahoo or google search for "sound effects" and you'll find just about everything under the sun. You can get a compilation cd at Best Buy or Circuit City for like $10 and you get all the gun shots, screams, machine sounds, etc... right at your finger tip. They are usually in the discount rack.

As for visual effects you can use programs like poser to create scenes. Again do a search for "3d animation" and you'll find plenty. Problem is the good programs start at $100 and go way up.

I'll dig a link up that was posted for a free 3d effects program.

Sound effects and special effects are too different beasts.

If you are looking for sound effects (I guess you just mean different sounds that you can put in your movies/menus etc) then google is the best place to start. There are many libraries - some free, some not - out on the net.

Sounddogs.com is one place to start.

    Hi,

Here is the link I was thinking of:

    http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic...546819#1546819

I haven't tried it yet but looks interesting. Free is good However its a 44mb download for the windows installer so if you're on dialup you may want to do this as an overnight download.

If you have specific questions, many here can help you. But we are poor at mind reading.

You should try making sound effects yourself, its fun, just hit stuff, smash things...ect, and record it. Then you can see what you can make with it. Try speeding it up, slowing it down, playing it backwards! There is so much you can do!
