hey everyone, i recently got this computer game and there are complete songs that play in the background while you play. i liked some of the songs and checked in the game's data folders and found these audio files, however they were in a MUS file format. i was wondering if there was a way that i could convert this audio to MP3, or any other audio for that matter. please assist. thanks.

It depends on the game. '.mus' is a rather generic extension, IMHO - some games like the original Doom used 'mus' format music, which I think was indeed a variation on MIDI.

This is not really video related. Moving you to the Computer Forum.

thanks for the tip, there were like 30 tracks and it would have taken forever to run them thru audition, so i just renamed them and it worked fine. thanks.
There is a program called ProperyPlus that will let you highlite all of a certain file type in a folder and change the extension of them all at once. It's alot easier than changing them one at a time. -
thanks very much it will definately be a big help. im very thankful. take care.
i just googled it and i cant find it anywhere, do u perhaps have a download link? thanks again.Wow! You got shocks, pegs... LUCKY! -
property plus is the name of the application, but I can't find it either. I will keep looking and post a link back here...

you could also open a dos prompt (command line) and type
ren *.mus *.mp3 -
DOS? What's DOS? Just kidding. I still do DOs all the time for certain things.
A good renamer (does a lot more than extensions) is CKRename and it's easy to find. -
I couldn't find a download site that still carries it but I did find a workable download link.

I also found this site that has all kinds of freeware.

but the link for PPlus doesn't work. -
Here is the Link from PC World.

BTW, PropertyPlus integrates itself into explorer so when you right click on a file, you not only get the normal Properties but also a Properties Plus.
It's just like Properies but gives you the capabilities of changing extensions and timestamps. -

That's probably where I originally downloaded it from years ago when I subscribed to the magazine.
