  1. This has been happening for a while now on 4 sytems I run. All have WinXP, three are home one is pro. Automatic updates are enabled but do not come through at all. My home system pops up the little yellow shield in the system tray ans says downloading updates, but after a few minutes of hovering at 0% it just goes away and never returns. I haven't seen this with the other computers I work on but they don't auto update either. Everything was working fine for years on them and nothing changed that should have effected this. Any ideas on what could be causing this or where to start looking for the problem?

I turn off auto-update(just notify) and go directly to Windows Update website.
FYI...if you use MS Office make sure to use their website also.

  3. Thats the way I generally ran mine and it's what I'm doing now anyway since it won't work correctly. I have updated to Microsoft update which give me office and windows updates all at one site. Not all of these PCs have been updated to MS update though so I don't think that would cause the issue.
