Would someone tell me which software I can use to copy a copyrighted CD?
I tried using nero but it will not work. I get a message saying that the cd is
copyrighted. I need an exact copy of the original cd. Thank you for your help.
If you need more information please ask.

You need something like AnyDVD that strips out the protection beforehand.

Also, I may be as simple as holding the shift key as you insert the disc, to disable autorun.

Nero copies most copyrighted CDs after showing the message. You need to find out what additional copy-protection is present and then find software to strip it.

    try

Well, it might be useful to know what type of CD this is as they aren't all created equal.

If it's an audio CD, Exact Audio Copy can be helpful. WARNING - Under Windows XP, you have to copy a specific dll file to the EAC install directory or you will get the Blue Screen Of Death. I don't remember the name of the file, but you can find out about it by doing a web search. I think it was winaspi32.dll.

If it's a game CD, I don't play computer games at all so I can't help you there, but I know it takes special programs to copy those.

If it's a VCD from India, then I invite you to the back of a very long line of people from India who are trying to figure out how to break this copy protection. I haven't read about any successes yet.

I use CloneCD to back up my application CDs. It works fine on most copy protected CDs.
