Or am I copying my double layer discs wrong?

They play fine on the computer but won't play on my Pioneer Elite 59avi

+R DL or -R DL? It DOES make a difference. My player is certainly not high end, but my Philips DVP-642 has minor problems with all -R DL discs but it plays +R DL flawlessly. I also recommend only using Verbatim DL discs, whether you burn +R or -R. You're asking for problems if you use anyone else's.

maybe I'm just burning my discs wrong?

I've been using AnyDVD in the background and ripping using Nero Recode.

    Is there a better solution?

also I've been using the Verbatim discs

Try DVDDecrypter: ISO Read>ISO Write. Very simple.

It works if you rip the DVD into a ISO file instead of the file method in DVD Decrypter and then use IMGBURN to write to the DL disc

    Thanks for the help guys
