    Hello,
Im setting up a media player (hardware).
Id like to rip a bunch of DVDs of various types, some protected some not.
    Ill use anyDVD.
Whats the best software to get them ripped to the harddrive?
    Most seem too elaborate.
    Id like two options only:
Strip the movie to just menus and the movie with subtitles, then rip
Rip the movie as it is.

    Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by "ripping them to harddrive" ........

do you mean rip and keep the DVD as it is, or compress it to fit more on your system

If you want to just straight rip AnyDVD has a built-in ripper, or use what a lot of people including myself still use. I use DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD, all you do is change a couple of settings in DVD Decrypter to let ANYDVD do the work of removing any protection, but DVD Decrypter still does the ripping. This way you get the best of both bits of software

DVD Decrypter can easily rip the enitire DVD or just the movie

If you want to compress the movies to squeeze more on your computer, have a look at Dr. DivX which is now freeware and updated frequently, this will easily compress any ripped movie and give you about 700MB per movie, or if you want higher quality just set it to use say 1024MB per movie

Plus a lot of DVD players these days now support direct playing of DivX movies, so you could have upto 6 films per DVD
