Thread: MTR to ffmpegX?

    I used MacTheRipper to extract the Main Feature from a DVD (Macrovision was stripped). The result is a folder containing an empty AUDIO_TS folder and a VIDEO_TS folder containing:

    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO

    It appears that the movie video is split among the four .VOB files.

    How do I use ffmpegX with the above to produce (encode) a single video file for transfer to my device?

    Rip again using Title Only Extraction, so that the main feature will be in one big VOB.

    Eric,

    Don't forget to select a single audio source for the output otherwise you'll still end up with multiple files. Here are the steps you should follow:

    1. Load your DVD.
    2. Launch MacTheRipper, then click on "MODE."
    3. In the first drop down, choose "Title Only Extraction."
    4. In the next drop down, choose the title you want (it's typically the one with the longest time).
    5. Click the "D" button. After clicking the D, the word DMUX will highlight at the top right handside.
    6. Click the "Streams" button and the Stream Window will open. This will show you the list of soundtracks and subtitle streams included on the DVD. Looking at the soundtracks, select only the audio track you want to include in your extraction. If it's the english audio track, hopefully you will be able to recognize it because it will have "EN" next to it. (Typically, the soundtrack you'll want is the first audio track listed.)
    7. Click D again (NOT Streams!!!). This is important as it will create individual streams if you don't or if you click on Streams again. DMUX should now be unhighlighted.
    8. Click the Go button to start the extraction.

    The steps listed above provide me with a perfect, single VOB most of the time (there's always an exception here or there).
