    I want a DVD player that will play all the formats that the DV-444 will play (VCD/SVCD/X(S)VCD/DVD/MP3), and the ability to read almost all cdr/rw's like the pioneer...., but with the progressive scan ability of the sony/panasonic/samsung line.

    I don't belive a player exists that does all of this is there?

    I have one but it is a chinese brand only available in China. You'll be surprised by the quality it produces.

    What exactly is progressive Scan ability? what does that do?

    It's a better technology than svideo to put it simply but it's only used with HDTV's.
