Unless I'm blind there isn't a graphics card board. I'm looking for one and had to go elsewhere for advice. I think it fits in with the other topics well.

Graphics board questions would generally be placed in the computer section unless you are replacing a graphics board in a portable player in which case it would be better in the portable player category. Then again your question about graphics boards might related to capturing video, in which the discussion should take place in the capture forum.

There is many places here for graphics card discussions. Rest assured if you post it in the wrong place the moderators here will gladly move it to an appropriate location.

  5. Here's a typical computer's back panel (note the location of the individual connectors varies):

If your monitor cable connects in the green box you have on-board video (built into the motherboard). If it connects in the red box (and usually close the the end by the green box) you have a graphics card.

If you're looking for composite or s-video out for TV it could be in either area.

  6. From the question, or statement, it is impossible to determine what the hell you are talking about. My guess would be that the diagram solved the issue and the OP will not post in this thread again.

While that is usually the case, in some proprietary machines you will see the graphics located in one of the expansion slots yet the graphics chip is located on the mainboard with a series of wires running to a slot connector bar. These bars are also used to add other types of connections such as serial connectors, parallel connectors, high speed connectors and more.

There is no substitute for inspecting inside to make sure that what you are looking at outside is an actual card on the inside and not some additional connector controlled exclusively by a motherboard chip(s).
