I'm looking into getting a DLP tv. I am looking at Toshiba/Samsung/Mitsubishi. My friend has a mitsubishi 52" and it looks great. I have read the samsung has technology that makes it better. What are your thoughts on these 3?

  2. I love my 56 inch 1080p Samsung DLP. You may want to wait until April when the new Samsung DLPs using a LCD light engine will be shipping. By then the prices for last years model should be at their lowest point.

Have you taken a look at HP's DLP with Wobulation? I hear it is pretty spectacular! One of the few TV's than can handle 1080p.

Actually it is three colored LEDs instead of a lamp and color wheel (no mechanical parts to wear out). Supposed to be pretty darn incredible with the color range it can reproduce. When they make one with this light engine at 71" (could be 2007), I might start thinking about replacing the one I got.

Also I believe the 2006 models WILL support 1080p over HDMI.

  5. Just my experience, and I've done some warranty tech work for samsung not mitsubushi, the lamps burn out so get a warranty for lamp replacement. Also if you dont have HDTV you will not be getting the most out of it. For my money I would go with an LCD projection such as a Sony WEGA, I priced a 50" at $1900 online incl shipping. DLP is great but still has issues. Again just my 2 cents

I wouldn't pay any more for 1080p at this point. There are no 1080p sources.

I'd shop cheap for something that covers your 2-3 yr needs and wait for a couple of generations for the real 1080p solution for use with HD/BD DVD.
