Want to learn more about conversion, divx lower resolution = half size?

Hi everyone,

I want to try to make a divx half as big in size without much quality loss. Is it possible with lowering the resolution in half?

I would like to know more about conversion, so does anyone know a biginning guide or something or advise ?

Changing the resolution (or frame size) by itself does nothing to change the file size, as filesize = bitrate x running time. However, by changing the frame size, it means that you can lower the bitrate to get a comparable picture quality, which then lowers the file size.
