    If the camcorder has a av in/out and I have usb porn on the comp and the wire to go to both, is that the same as firewire? Is there a way to capture the video through that connection or do I have to go buy a card? Someone asked this in another thread but no one answered. Thanks for the help (Trying to dvd back up my son's birth so hopefully this'll work!).

    No USB isn't the same as firewire. You're best of getting a firewire porn (I mean port) - they're very cheap. Then download & install WinDV (free) & use that to capture from your camcorder.
