HDCP?

Hi,

I'm planning on connecting the Samsung DVD-HD950, HDMI output, to a Dell 2005FPW, DVI input, using a HDMI <--> DVI cable.
Just wandered if this would work and produce a good quality picture or do I need to disable the HDCP?

What does the HDCP do?

HDCP - High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection

HDCP is a copy protection scheme for digital devices oing to be used for upcoming Blu-Ray/HD-DVD Players as well as HDTV sets. Without HDCP (via HDMI or DVI), people cannot view High Definition content such as Blu Ray and HD-DVD.

HDCP will only applie to Blu Ray and HD DVD.

If your player is a regular dvd player that upscales DVD content and plays DivX/XviD etc, then you have nothing to worry about. HDCP does not apply in this case.
