    Is it necessary to use this program? I remember having some problems with it before and deleted it. Couldn't I just change the extension of the vob to mpg and let svcd2dvd make a dvd out of it?

    Well if you only have a single VOB file then you can do what you say. If you have a VOBSET (VTS_01_XX.VOB for example) then you should use VOB2MPG.
    SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.
    VOB2MPG PRO, Extract mpegs from your DVDs - with you in control!
