Failure to write to disc

When use ArcSoft ShowBiz DVD 2.When trying to burn a Memorex single sided double layer DVD on my XP Pro system after the author phase I get the error message "Failure to write to disc." Can you advise a fix. Also I have the version and have select the double layer feature on the DVD options drop down box.

Do you have the latest firmware for whatever drive this is? Do you have any other burners installed which may conflict with this one?

I have the latest version for the HP Movie Writer dc 5000 and for the ShowBiz software there is a CD writer connected to the machine but no conflict is appearing in the computer information systems.

Is the CD Writer possibly the default drive and therefore because the CD capacity is smaller than a DVD and no CD-r is present in that the drive that the software is reporting an error?

The DVD Writer has performed with no problems till I tried the writing to a double layered disc which the writer and the software are suppose to support.

It could be the movie writer doesn't support this media. Is the Memorex disc a 2.4x +R dual layer?

The documentation indicates the DVD writer should be able to copy to the Memorex media. It appears the probem is with the ArcSoft software.
