Color shift correction

A few years ago, I transferred by almost 10-year-old VHS master to Mini-DV. Unfortunately, I did not have an opportunity to do it sooner as the VHS appeared to be showing its age during the transfer.

Anyway...I've captured the DV to AVI and wanted to know if there is any way to correct the color shift (mainly the reds). I don't think this counts as a ghosting since it is just mainly one color. I've messed with filters in VirtualDub and Tmpeg with a trial and error, but wondered if anyone had a recommended regimen of filters and settings to correct this problem.

I realize that "crap in equals crap out", but figered there had to be some way to have some improvement.

You can try Flaxen's VHS filter for VirtualDub. It has an option to shift the chroma(color).
