Verbatim dl dvd+r discs bad discs?

I recently upgraded to a Sony dru-810 a. I use verbatim dl dvd+r discs. When I go to backup my disc and try to rip the contents off of it or make sure the disc is good, I get;

Cannot copy vts 01 3 data error (cyclic redundancy check)

my other dvd-rs work fine

Should I back this up as data dvd+r?

I backed it up as video dvd+r

I have used those discs for countless data and video backups with my Sony 810UL burner. Shouldn't matter what you put on the disc, whether its data, audio, or video. Haven't had a problem with that media. Does this happen all the time?

No problems with over 40 +dl discs used so far.

I had a problem with my first few Verbatim DLs, but I believe that was more firmware related than disc related. I recently upgraded the firmware of my Plextor 740A to v1.02, and that seemed to fix many problems, including burning cleanly to DL discs (Verbatim)
