MAC Tools

Hey y-all I am new to Mac so I don't know what kind of video editing tools I should use. I was looking through the Mac tools, but I can't seem to find anything. I am trying to download something like V-Dub that performs error checks on video and works with audio. I am also trying to get a video conversion like TMPGEnc. A burner would be nice too. Can anybody help me. Thanks

FfmpegX <- various encoding and other tools
Handbrake <- dixx/xvid/h264 encoding straight from dvd source
D-vision <- divx/xvid encoding from unencrypted dvd source and other tools
Quicktime Pro <- player and editor and exporter and more
Mpeg Streamclip <- editor and exporter and other tools
Toast 7 <- burner and encoder for divx and mpeg formats
Mac The Ripper <- DVD rip to unencrypted DVD
Vidi <- DV capture

Those are the free/shareware ones I use.


Also:
DVD Studio Pro <- pro level DVD authoring
Final Cut Pro <- pro level DVD editing

There is also YadeX, another free ripper, and
Moviegate 2, a criminally underrated app, which has more features and is more reliable than Toast when it comes to DVD authoring, IMO.

Both are free/donationware.

Thanks for the replys. I have two problems, when I install mpeg 2 support for quicktime and try to run an mpg move it still gives me an error-Unable to play because quicktime does not understand or something like that. Second, is there a tool out there that I can get so that I can preview avi downloads?

vlc and mplayer will play most avis. quicktime will too given the correct codecs are installed.
Not sure about your mpeg2 problem... also try vlc or mplayer for that as well.
