DMR-ES10 How to record a cable channel ?

The user guide shows a way to record a channel using
Video plus.

However I don't see how to do an instant
or direct recording

On my old video recorder I was able to set a
channel button to 'AV'.

Is there some sort of equivalent here?

(The Direct TV recording button is not active in my set-up)

There is an Input Select button on the remote control underneath the DVD Power button (upper left). The rear A/V inputs are IN1 and IN3. The front A/V input is IN2.

The input select button just seems to switch the TV mode
from Terrestrial to Scart (if I've used the right
terminology).

Recording still uses the channel shown on the DVD recorder
