Suggestions for MP4 Editting?

Hi folks. I've been trying to hunt down a nice, simple application for editting MP4 files. I'm basically looking for something like the old MyFlix XE app which was really good for cutting out commercials from TV programs. It didn't require projects, templates or any overhead - you just open your MPEG2, cut the portions you wanted to keep and then clicked a record button to output the editted version. Can anyone suggest a program similair to that but can edit MP4 video?

yamb, not as simple as myflix but I don't think you will find that many other mp4 editors yet...maybe quicktime pro can do some editing also.

but mp4 is not a video format like mpeg2, it is a container so you can also demux the video and audio and edit with other tools depending what the video codec is.

a question on quicktime pro,,, i cant seem to see the video when i open my mp4 video file,, only can hear sound! wats the problem? any idea?

Problem is that QT's mp4 support sucks. It supports SP MPEG-4 Part 2 only and almost main profile AVC. It also doesn't support he aac audio.

Probably the best bet is a current SVN build of AVIDemux 2.2. In many ways it is a lot like VirtualDub, however it supports mp4 and doesn't use VfW. Uses libavcodec and faad for decoding which means it supports ASP, HP and he-aac.

Just remember ... mp4 is not mpeg4 ... and yamb relies on other tool's .

Once converted , you can edit it in vdub .

Another is to install the new itune's package , which include's quicktime player .
Install the new version of super .

Now use super to encode it to avi , xvid with mp3 .

Watch those fps value's .

Open this avi in vdub .
Set audio to full processing
Audio - conversion = 44.1
Audio - compression = no compression / pcm

Save wav .

Back to audio
Choose "wav audio" , sellect the wav file that had just be created .

To remove part's ...

Hold ctrl and hit left arrow .
In the middle down below in window are to arrow looking button's , these are frame lock's ... hit the left one .
Now move the slider to the end of you first clip , and hit the second lock button .

Set video to direct stream copy .
Save as avi (one.avi)

Now move the slider to the first frame of next clip and hit that left lock button .
Move slider to end of this next part and hit that second lock button .
Save as avi (two.avi)

Repeat process till all part's you wish to keep have been saved as avi's .

Close video file .

Open (one.avi)
Goto file , append , open (two.avi)
Goto file , append , open (three.avi)

Keep going till all avi part's have been added using the append method .

You can once this is done ...

Video is set to direct stream copy .
Audio , compression ... choose mpeg layer 3 (smaller audio file footprint) or ac3 (many listed bitrate's)
Audio set to full processing .

Now save as avi (???????.avi) , ???? = title name .

Done and enjoy .

Now convert it to dvd required format if required ...

mp4 is part of the MPEG-4 specs, so that I would say makes it MPEG4. At least just as much as any other part. Fact is that it will probably also contain ISO 14496-2/10 video and ISO 14496-3 audio and could also contain ISO 14496-1 and or ISO 14496-17. Basically mp4 is MPEG4.
