Filter is also intended for recovering quality of video ripped from DVD (for example, when it contains many hours of video data), VideoCD, shot on cameraphone or after decompressing by H.261, H.263, DivX 3, DivX 4, XviD

The main advantages of the new filter are:
* High quality hard blockiness processing
* Unaligned blockiness reduction possibility
* Directional filtration restoring objects' edges

As much as I love the movie BLADE RUNNER I must admit it has the "worst" example of "image manipulation" that can't possibly be done using a still image and a computer.

I mean I don't care HOW advanced the computer is ... the image perspective is actually changed allowing to see something by going "around" something that was "blocking" the other something LOL

Morning everyone

fwiw..

At this juncture of video (now partly imaging) I am studying YUV and
the use of it.. (I am now looking for a dig camera for further study)
and in the process, I am developing various yuv tools to aid in my
research.. yada yada.. just so that you know where I'm coming from
now.. Anyways.

Regarding Blade Runner, among one my few favorites of mine..

My response, in short ..have you ever scanned a photograph ??

Don't forget, the times.. it was in the future. Greater technology.
And, who knows for sure (with-in the perspective of that movie and
the imagination thereof) what level of technology was used in the
process of taking that photograph and was used in the *analizing* of
the photo, which ultimately resulted in that finished (short) photo.

I must admit, I don't recall completely, *that* scene, so I am going on
a lymbe here :P

Yeap!!!! Finally!
MSU_Deblocking is my favorite filter and now it is even better. It is the best filter for any kind of DVB -/s, -/t capture! Eliminates most of the blocks (on most channels)

honestly, MSU has been pushing out some pretty unique video filters for a while, this one happens to have more actual use than some of the others, but they are all a lot of fun to toy around with........this one is great for clearing up video clips though, im sure.....i cant wait till if/when they publically release that super resolution filter though...that thing will be something else, even if it crawls as far as encoding speeds.....

OK, the new filter does a better job with the bad compressed DVB sources. But it is slow... Too slow!!! I hope later versions boost the performance somehow...

Because of the speed, I switch back to deblocking...

How do you implement this into an avs script to load into CCE? Just checked the MSU website and is it only for virtualdub?? Never used filters before really and would love to try this on something (edit: like a laserdisc to DVD).

This would only harm a laserdisc to DVD transfer. It's for stuff that's loaded with blocking from too low of a bitrate.
