    Greetings,

i have a file produced with the Alchemy TV card (Apple intermed + PCM audio) which i am unable to encode to h264.mp4

    Maybe you help me out

    http://www.michaeldicker.com/privat/ffmpegx/HSTEST.mov (1MB)

<edited because of lack of info>

First, it does not recognize the file well. Wrong size, aspect and length.
Is that the reason for failings that it does not recog Apple intermed codec?

Interesting thing is, if i encode it to xvid .avi with mp3 audio the file is recognized.

I have tested the file a bit more and it seems to be a mencoder "problem".

ffmpeg as codec works, mencoder not.

It works choosing any possible ffmpeg option and .avi as container

    Hope that helps for "bugfixing"

    Hi,

there is NO "decode with Quicktime"
Option if you encode to h.264.

    Thanks

? Er, that can't be right. (Fiddles with FFMPEGX).
Ah, you are using the H.264(mencoder) encoder. Frankly, I wouldn't trust it anyway. There have been many reports of lip-sync problems with it, and it's not iPod-compatible anyway. Use the H.264(x264) encoder instead. It's more compatible, robust, and it allows decoding with Quicktime.

Any particular reason you want to use the mencoder encoder?
