dvd player hack seems to have gone wrong, any help?

Hi, I own a samsung S224 dvd player. Its set to play, cd-r-cdrw etc, however, i put in the return of the king from usa, but it was the wrong region, so i found a hack online, tried it and was able to see my region change to 9 (multi-region). However, when i put the dvd in the sound is fine but the picture is divided into 4 horizontal images. Other dvds can be played ok. I tried the dvd in a friends exact same S224 player and it played fine.

Can anyone suggest why its not playing correctly for me and possibly how to fix it.?

Hi John and welcome to the forum

Are you sure you changed to region 9? If so , this could be the problem.....

Region 0: All
Region 1: U.S., Canada, U.S. Territories
Region 2: Japan, Europe, South Africa, and Middle East (including Egypt)
Region 3: Southeast Asia and East Asia (including Hong Kong)
Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, and the Caribbean
Region 5: Eastern Europe (Former Soviet Union), Indian subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, and Mongolia
Region 6: China
Region 7: Reserved
Region 8: Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.)

Try re-running the hack and setting to region 0 (zero) should do the job.

Thanks for the reply. I did try setting it to 0 and to 1 (usa) but still all messed up. I can see the numbers changings and i open the drawe as suggested ans wait etc but still no go.

Unplug it from wall for a full minute, this resets any appliance.

hi, i tried unplugging it for 2 mins but still same problem even when i set it to 0 and 9.
