  1. Then I encode in TMPGEnc (divx to ntsc vcd mpeg) the time remaing starts out with 3 hours remaining then all of a sudden jumps to 69+ hours remaining. I'm using a ntsc vcd template. high quality.

  3. I'm running a Sony vaio with 450 mhz
    256 ram pentium III
the screen is previewing the movie I ran a couple of tests with short encodes and it seems that the mpegs are gigantic. How will I burn them on a single cd? Do I have to make a image cue and bin to burn onto cd?

  4. jcee28,

    try this out for size.

    * re-encode again, but this time, change your NQ (normal quality) since it's
much faster. But what we want to try and see is if you get the same 69 hours
or lesser. Maybe 22 hours, but this will help you narrow down the problem.

    * Next, try setting your [x] Source, under Advance tab and (dbl-click it) and
set a 1000 frame or (10,000 - to get a better timeing) and, again, set to
NQ and see how long it says.

Sometimes, it pays to do some detective work.

  5. Thanks I guess I'm getting into the technicality of this stuff. I narrowed it down to 20 and now around 7 hours. I could deal with that. I guess it's trail and error with a lot of fiddling around with settings. Thanks again!
I'm on to learning menu and chapter making I'll let you know if I run into any problems.
