    my DVR has a standard IDE harddrive in it.. it's connected to 2 tv's.. the video that is recorded to is usually averages about 3.5mbits..

    i'm able to record 2 programs to the DVR and watch 2 previously recorded programs from the DVR at the same time..

    i'm wondering how it is possible for the drive to read 7.0mbits & write 7.0mbits at the same time, going 4 different ways.. it just seems like it would put a lot of stress on the drive..

    not really. a megabit, is only 1/8th megabyte. So its reading just under a megabyte a second, and writing just under a megabyte a second.

    I'm also guessing it uses some sort of hardware processing and a buffer on both the hard drive and the hardware which allow it to do so.
