Avi H264 can open only with ffdshow?

Avi H264 can open only with ffdshow?
TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress cannot open Avi H264/X264 even if ffdshow install.
I have only play option with Windows Media Player

Do I have alternative codec to open H264?

try some older or newer versions of ffdshow

Or use avisynth, make a video.avs file with
DirectShowSource("C:\video.avi")
replace c:\video.avi to the location of your video.
Try then open the video.avs in tmpgenc (be sure to increase the direct show prirority in tmpgenc).

You need to make sure that AVC/h.264 is enabled in ffdshow's VfW decoder config or it simply won't decode it via VfW.

QT 7 does support h.264, but only main profile, also the avi container would probably be an issue. MP AVC in an mp4 or mov container should be fine though. I guess an avi might work if it used avc1 for the fourCC.

Playing H.264 or AVI
If you convert a video to AVI you should know that QuickTime 7 is not able to play any of the AVI files I have created. However, VLC media player for Mac OS X plays AVI formatted files on the Macintosh and just about every other format you send its way. No Macintosh should be without VLC. In fact, VLC played H.264 (AVC) files before QuickTime was able to. So if you want to create AVI videos get VLC for playback. For those that have the computer horsepower and the patience to create H.264 format videos you will find that they play with QuickTime 7, VLC and iTunes 4.8.

Doesn't mean that they aren't h.264.
People have been refering to XviD/DivX avi's as MPEG-4 for ages so if an XviD avi is MPEG-4 then by the same token an x264 avi is h.264.
