Capturing a still shot from Video Studio 9

When I capture a still shot from a video clip, the resulting .bmp file looks squashed down. This makes everyone look shorter and fatter. (as if any of us need that ) Is this a resolution issue?

Sounds like you are only getting one field of the clip, so you only see every second line. This appears like the image is compressed. See if there is an option to grab a frame, instead of a field. You may find when you do this that any frame grabbed during movement will have jagged edges throughout though.

When you capture a still from video you may need to deinterlace, and change the size of the photo to make it look correct. Search the forum for "capture still from video", and you will find all the necessary information. That is where I found it when I had to do this a few months ago. I just didn't keep the information handy.

I can only find one setting in reference to capturing still shots. The "Image capture deinterlaced" box is checked.

Does anything else come to mind? Today is the last day of my 30 day trial.
