I am encoding audio and video for use on DVD, but am unclear about the difference between ffmpeg and mpeg2enc.

it seems like they both encode to mpeg2, right ? I've read the available guides from videohelp, but it's still a bit unclear.

whats the difference and am I missing something ?

    thanks!

  2. In mpeg-2 encoding, basically ffmpeg is faster and better but mpeg2enc has a better bitrate control and is more compliant to standards. It also supports NTSC FILM with 3:2 pulldown directly. So in short, if your player does not like ffmpeg streams you have to switch to mpeg2enc.

I see...so they're both mpeg2, just a bit different, and some players dont like ffmpeg.
