Everytime I play a file in media classic or media player, I get a dxva_sig.txt that appears in the same folder. I know it's not a video card problem. VLC player doesn't have the problem. Does anyone know what this problem stems from? I have WMP V10 and I tried the patch that was put out but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Looks like it is in fact a video card driver problem - to do with your ATI card driver and a pre-V10 WMP according to those links.

Strange though, it recommends to upgrade to V10 to get rid of it ....

Maybe try finding a different driver for your video card ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

I searched around and there are plenty of people who have the same problem using Nvidia 6600.

You're right lordmajax. I have a 6600GT and get the dxva_txt apperaing everytime I play a video in MPC. Since its not posing any real problems, I just ignore it (or delete it afterwards).

Does MPC use any part of WMP? Do you have WMP 10? Just trying to understand it.

  8. I believe DXVA stands for DirectX Video Acceleration.

    This might help:

  9. I had that dxva_sig.txt problem when playing WMV files with MPC,but soon figured it out.
I have an ATI video card and the new ATI Control Centre gives you the option "WMV Acceleration"
I unchecked the box and rebooted my PC and all is solved. 8)

Where can anybody get this ATI control centre. I've got the Radeon X600 256Mb and I can't find this control centre anywhere on my PC. Am I looking in the right place or do I have to download it from somewhere??

Found it and unchecked it, but it doesn't seem working, dxva_sig.txt is still there. Any idea?

Maybe your particular driver install didn't include the CCC. Try the drivers downloads @ the ATI site...
