.AVI and .SSA file troubles

Hey guys, I have an AVI and a SSA subtitle file. What program should I use to get these to work together?

Better yet, what should I use to burn them if possible?

I have no luck with FFmpegX, so if someone suggests that, could you please tell me how to get it to work? Whenever I try to convert something it never works. Thanks!

ffmpegX does supposedly support SSA, but I've never heard of anyone actually getting it to work. You should ask Major in the ffmpegX forum.

Well I did get it to play with MPlayer, but I want to try and find a way to join them myself... My PC user friend is currently doing that right now, but it's a pain to always go to him for help
