I capture TV using my capture card at 640x480 29.970 FPS Huffyuv codec. I wanted to know how to do Inverse Telecine to my captures, using any program, it doesn't really matter. I would hope the IVTC wouldn't have that many mistakes. I've heard AVISynth is the way to go, but could someone give some suggestions as to what programs and what plugins are needed?

Use VirtualDub first of all, to determine if IVTC is required..
Right click the video window, zoom at 2x, and do a frame by frame jump..

If you've got a steady pattern of 3 progressive, and two interlaced frames, then you can go ahead with IVTC ..
Within Vdub, under Video>Framerate, you can also accomplish IVTC, but i have never done this..

I used AVISynth, using Donald Grafts page..
Go to "Mine", and download and unzip the readme from "Decomb" package.
Decomb is a plugin for AVISynth that allows total control on strangely telecined material..
    The readme.txt is great..

    Hi!
First, you have to be sure if your video has 3:2 pattern. After that you can go ahead and try inversing telecine.

    Good luck.

IVTC is a rather involved process when working with shows captured from TV. Quite often the shows are Telecined from film before the editing process is done. This creates alot of breaks in the telecine patttern (sometimes at every scene change). Make sure you analyze your capture carefully. Also, if the show has alot of special effects, these are often done at full 29.97 framerate so applying IVTC to those sections creates jerkiness. Unless you have some specific reason to remove telecine, I would leave it as is.
