  1. Hi All,

I'm really trying to get used to thunderbird but I have a small problem.

How the heck do you make Thunderbird show the newly downloaded messages when you launch the program??

It only has the popup in the bottom right corner that says "5 new messages" then you have to click the scroll bar down and click the new message(s).

This is more of an annoyance than anything else. I hate to say it but I like Outlook express more at the moment this sole reason.

Feel free to point out the obvious since it's something simple that I missed in the options menu for Thunderbird.

Thanx for helping a newby that finally made the transition away from the Micro$oft thieves.

I don't understand what you're getting at. When you have Thunderbird open you can either set it to sort messages by date so that the newest are at the top (just by clicking on the date bar above that column so the little arrow is pointing up), or sort it by if it has been viewed or not (the little sunglasses icon column). The setting to auto-download messages from an IMAP server is in the account settings.

  3. I guess what I'm after is this.

WHen you double-click the thunderbird icon it launches the program. In the top right window, where all you're emails are, that's where it DOESN'T show the new email..

You have to "Scroll" down to see what the EMAILS are.

    does that make sense???

    thnkas

Yeah, click the date bar so the little arrow is pointing up to arrange by date with the newest first. As long as it is set to automatically download them on startup it'll put the new ones at the top.
