I just got one of these for the sole purpose of recording shows on my computer and then burning them to a DVD+RW so I can watch them on my TV. The first show I burned did not play on the DVD player.

    I am using Samsung DVD+RW 4x, 4.7GB discs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I burned an tv show I recorded using my TV tuner card. It was an .mpg and it plays in my computer fine. When I put it in the DVD player, it just said searching then then spit it back out.

    I burned it using Nero.

need more detailed steps of what you did? Note when burning you have to close session on dvd and if file is big must select UDF/iso to be detected. If all these are ok you may have a bad media! need more info to help you.

  6. I use DVD+RW drives in a DVP-642 all the time. With XVID/DIVX AVI files, and MPEG1/MPEG2 files.

Be sure to burn as ISO data DVD and No Multisession -- or at least be sure to finalize the disk.

Well, I used Nerovision Express to burn it to a DVD+RW, which worked fine. After that, I put it in the player and I pressed menu and messed around with that until I was able to get the little picture to come up that you would click on to play it. It wouldn't play, however, and I'm not entirely sure how I did it.

It's a half hour show, so I don't think it's that big of a file. If I clear the disc, can you walk me through what I need to do?

What do you mean by ISO data DVD? What program do you use to burn them? Can you walk me through what you do? I am trying to burn .mpg's.

    Thanks!

Mummer43 - you're not telling us enough to help you here. A LOT more info would be helpful. Tell us what video card you have. Tell us EXACTLY what format you recorded this video as. Saying "MPG" is NOT what we are looking for. Something like this would be helpful -

    720x480 NTSC MPEG-2 video
    29.97 fps
MPEG-I layer II audio at 224 Kbps

If you don't know what you recorded, download Gspot and use it to tell us. Next, what format disc did you make? DVD-ROM? DVD? I am NOT asking what kind of media you have but what did you burn? If you don't know enough to answer the question, we probably can't help you. My guess is that you burned
a DVD-ROM and the file you burned isn't supported by the DVD player.

My final suggestion to you would be that you would do yourself a big favor if you would learn to burn with Nero Burning ROM and stop using Nero Vision Express, which prevents people from understanding exactly what they are doing when they are burning.

I just bought this same player for the same purpose, to play DVD-RW's. My previous player would not. I use CopytoDVD & burn the same as I would any other DVD & it plays fine. The thing I like most about CopytoDVD is I don't have to erase or reformat the disk each time I want to use it. If somethiong is on the disk it just tells me that there is programming on the disk & would I like to replace it. I say yes & in about 1 to 2 minutes it erases the disk & then starts writing to new material. Very simple & trouble free. I use it mainly to time shift TV programs. I've re-recorded over the same RW disk about 50 times so far without a hitch.

I use Nero Burning ROM. Start -> All Programs -> Nero -> Nero 6 Ultra Edition -> Nero Burning ROM. Select DVD-ROM (ISO) from the New Compilation Wizard. Under Multisession be sure No Multisession is selected. Add your file(s), burn.

I apoligize for the confusion, I'm new to this. When I get home, I will go through everything again and record exactly what I do.

I don't have burning ROM. I have OEM Suite.

Ok, I downloaded the demo version of burning rom. I followed the steps you said and it's not recognizing any of my files. They are saved as .mpgs. When I click on an .mpg, it says "unexpected file format."

Ok, here is a screenshot of gspot.

  17. You need a newer version of GSpot to analyse MPEG files. Download the latest release.

By the way, you can use Alt+PrintScreen to snapshot just the active window.
