I have used DVD RB a few times to backup episode discs when the 1st SHRINK copy I have done looks ugly due to the fact that the Comp % is usually very high (50-60%).

Is it possible to run VOBblanker + menu shrink on a disc prior to using DVD RB? This would remove certain extras so that the compression % needed would not be so high...

I though I read that RB doesnt allow pre processing.

I didnt want to do it, then run a 4 hour RB session, only to find that it doesnt like it..
I have no idea what im doing, whatsoever.

Yeah, go ahead, it always works for me.

BTW, I just received an episode disc set as a gift, the DVD release of Michael Wood's "In Search of the Trojan War", from 1985. 3 hours worth each disc at 4:3 AR and those bastards at the BBC have to put trailers on the disc as well? Normally, I reauthor movies, but with the separate episodes and many chapters, the menus are actually useful. (They're still shots anyway, so I kept 'em). The upshot is, I decrypted, ran it through VobBlanker, then DVDRB two ways: Full D1 and Half D1. The Half D1 looked much better than Full D1, which had a lot of artifacts. You might try that if the running time is near three hours.

    Good luck.

P.S. Oh, dunno about using Menushrink, whether DVDRB will like it or not.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

menushrink and vobblanker should work fine as pre-processing before DVDRB. They both output very compliant DVDs, as attested by the number of people who've used both...

Haven't used menushrink, but for what it's worth the half dozen attempts to use vobblanker have never produced an output that can be loaded by DVD Shrink or DVD RB

That is amazing! Certainly not the way it ought to be. If you point out these problems to jsoto, he will be very interested! Vobblanker was designed to create fully compliant DVDs, and I know that jsoto is a big fan of DVDRB, so I'm really surprised that you encountered such problems (I never did!)...
