  1. Is the date / time that a particular shot was made available once the file has been captured as an .avi file? The timestamp shows up on the DV tape as it's running in my camcorder, but I can't seem to find a way to access it either in the editor I'm using (Vegas 6) or in a viewer - my default is Windows Media Player 10.

Gspot does show me two pairs of numbers under "Userdata/Metadata" next to [DTIM] 29720195 934257280 which may be date/time but isn't too friendly.

    Thanks.

  2. Thanks for the sugestions Baldrick, but does that mean that Vegas doesn't support the feature of getting accessing the date? Are there any editors that do support that feature?

That metadata will be on the original tape but sometimes gets stripped out during capture. If it survives capture, it probably gets removed when pulled to the timeline and previewed (rendered).

I've never tested Vegas for this.
At some point all editors strip metadata from the clip file. Some maintain it in the internal media database.

These "features" are usually undocumented. You need to run your own tests on the demo.
