Affordable DVD Inkjet Printers?

Hey, I was looking into getting a printer that will allow me to print high-quality labels directly onto my DVDs. I have white printable DVDs and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good printer.

I've seen some as low as $100-300 but are there any that can match the quality of the more expensive ones?

I love my Epson R200, i've done about a 100 or so dvds & it's worked great, especially for the price of this printer.

The R200 is a great CD/DVD-only printing option. The ink is too expensive and Epson is outclassed by it's rivals in the photo printing arena IMO. Got mine for $70 shipped refurbished from epson.com.

Seeing as it's pretty much the only affordable dvd/cd printer in the U.S.
R200 & R300!!! got both for $70.00 & under brand new!! Might have been $80.00 for th R300, yep, just looked at my receipt, 80.00 after rebate.
I will never go back to any other way!!!!!!
Throw in a CIS system & you are so hooked up and so cheap to print glossy covers and dvd's/cd's!!!!!!!!!!

The epson r200 is a great printer. I only use it for the movies that I treasure which are my martial arts movie collection. I only use it to do the printable dvd media. I don't use it for anything else. I have a old HP 722c that I use to print out everything else. Ink is expensive but as mentioned you could use a CIS system to save money on ink.

I also have an R200. Great little printer. I use it for DVD's and photos. If you add a CIS or refillable cartridges. It is a great setup.

I got my Canon iP3000 for free after rebate and the tray cost me $7.00 and took ten minutes to make it print CD\DVDs for the U.S. model. Carts are easily refilled and cheap to buy. There is also CIS kits available.

Epson R200 here. Love it!

The only consumer/prosumer printers I would purchase right now for printing to CD/DVD are the Epson R800 or Epson R1800. And the reasons are affordability and the ink used (Ultrachrome). I've seen these puppies in action and the ink is waterproof, smudgeproof and is 200 year fade resistant. The other Epsons don't deliver that kind of quality.

I have the CIS for the r200 form jlwsales, and I don't print that often maybe 4-10 dvds and 4-10 labels a month. The ink will last me atleast a year it looks like right now. I've had it 3 months with no drying of ink and only had to do one cleaning since installing it. If you're worried about ink $$ get this system. I believe there is a new version (setup) he has now. but for $99, for atleast a years ink for me was a great deal, and I'm very pleased with the picture quality with the ink that is supplied with it.

Wow, thanks for the replies. The consensus seems to be the Epson R200 or newer, or the Canon iP3000.

Anyone have any problems with a particular brand? Or is there a printer that I should definitely avoid altogether?

Personally, I've never had much luck with Epson inkjet printers. They always seem to do nonsensical things and take forever. Perhaps the R200 is different.
