Divx on Philips DVP642

I use Virtual DUb to capture Mpeg4, or I use VirtualDub to convert avi files to mpeg4. When I put it on a Dvd and watch it on a Dvd DivX Player, the video comes out all jerky. However divx files I download off the internet, play good. It's just the one's I create.

What settings do you use in VirtualDub?

People must be tired of answering this so that is probably why you had to bump 3 days later.

I use a bitrate of about 1800 or less and mp3 audio. No gmc or Quarterpixel.

I also use any old framesize but usually 640x480.

What settings do you use and which version of the divx codec?

I suggest you try reading some.

You can't expect us to spoon feed you the entire proceedure. Guides are for that. Forums are for more specific issues like, "What setting in DVD2AVI do I use if I have an interlaced NTSC DVD source?"

I usually use VirtualDubMPEG2 or VirtualDubMod to make Xvid AVI files in Quantization mode (constant quality) with a value of 2 or 3 (as good as 2-pass VBR but in only one pass). No QPel, no GMC, no B VOP's, 224 kpbs MP2 audio.

their is a little known quirk with the philips dvp642. If the video is jerky try pushing the "system menu" button on the remote 2 times fast. I know but it does work alot of times.

I figured out the problem on my own. I wasn't de-interlacing. Also the resolution was to high.

Well anyway, it's working now.
