I have a r300 epson printer and when I connect it to my usb 2.0 card it xp recongnizes that I have a new hardware installed. When I try to use the printer it won't work. I looked in device manager and it shows a yellow ? mark and next to it , usb 2.0 mfp(hi-speed). I do have a epson scanner connected into the 2.0 port and that works. I did not get a cd with drivers for the usb 2.0 card so I can't try that.
I have heard talk of sp1, and maybe needing the sp2 for 2.0 capabilities that it might help solve my problem. For 1 I did try sp2 before and had tons of issues with my software . Since I got rid of sp2 no problems, maybe a fluke I don't know. I don't have my computer connected to the internet so I don't need all the security.
    What do you think?

Delete the USB Root hub and reboot. Also, try re-installing the chipset drivers for your computer, they should include the USB 2.0 drivers. Keep in mind, if you have a USB 1.1 device plugged into the hub, it will drop the entire hub to 1.1. By hub I mean the 2 ports together. Remember, USB ports will only operate as fast as the slowest device on the controller.

Yeah, sounds like drivers need to be uninstalled and then reinstalled again.

thevoelk, I have the scanner that works on the 2.0 card, question is ,is it really operating as 2.0 or 1.0? The scanner is 2.0 complient and backwards complient.
Marty, I did indeed use the printer software, so I guess the drivers would of been part of the cd software, that was all I recieved when buying it.
rallynavvie, I uninstalled and reinstalled as per directions for installing printer 2 times. Maybe 3rd time may be a charm, I am not opposed to trying.
Do you guys think a new usb 2.0 card with drivers would make a difference? They are cheap these days.
Another main reason I would like 2.0 capabilities is ,I am about to purchase a external burner. The burner would probably run awfully slow at 1.0.

Try to install/use the printer by itself on the card. If you still get the error message, you probably are in one of those unfortunate situations where your card just does not want to recognize a USB 2 device as USB 2. You may look for a firmware/bios update for your card, or updated drivers from the website. One of those two may solve the problem for you.

I figured it out. I had to find the drivers for my 2.0 usb card. I loaded the driver cd and went to device manager under "universal series bus controllers'' from the device list, clicked reinstall driver, and it started pulling from the cd drivers. It now runs off 2.0. Thanks for all the help.
